Pitch Improvement Programme
Have you ever wondered what it takes to create a pitch like the one found at Ashton Gate? Do you want to learn how to improve the playing surface or tackle a problem with the pitch at your ground?
The need for this service is more relevant now than ever, given the current economic times and the pressures facing grass roots football.
Bristol City Community Trust has been working in partnership with The FA and The Institute of Groundmanship (IOG) to develop a Grass Pitch Improvement service that can be utilised by grass roots football clubs with the simple aim of improving the quality of grass pitches. The key principles behind the service are to provide football clubs with advice and practical solutions on a number of areas. Our staff will take into account the level of football, club budget, available equipment and they will make a recommendation on how you can improve the playing surface.
The cost for the visit and report that will cover the key areas of pitch maintenance will be approximately £120 per visit (plus expenses).
Football Action
Does your club need to:
• Give tired facilities a face lift?
• Repair, extend or build new changing rooms?
• Raise money to sustain what you do or help you to achieve your future goals?
• Increase awareness of your club?
• Attract a new sponsor or value and existing one?
• Attract more volunteers?
• Bring people together and have fun?
Football Action is a community volunteer programme which helps local football clubs to improve their facilities. It is an opportunity for your club to gather members, supporters, friends and family for a weekend of fun-filled DIY. We can support your club to co-ordinate a community-wide effort to give your club a much needed ‘make-over’ in advance of the season ahead.
Grounds Maintenance Association
Improving the quality of the playing surface is fundamental in developing better players in this country. The trust offers a series of in-service training to grounds men and women who are committed to improving themselves, their practices and their facilities. This programme has been developed by the incredibly well respected Craig Richardson (Grounds Manager at Bristol City FC) and will provide grounds people with an opportunity to speak to professional experts in winter pitch maintenance.
Equipment Banks
In order to maintain your pitch to a good standard you will need access to larger, more expensive pieces of equipment. We recognise that this equipment is only needed at certain times in the season and therefore it is not cost effective for every grassroots club to purchase, maintain and operate this equipment. The club with its dedicated and well trained staff will bring our equipment to your ground to carry out needed work. Prices are very competitive and will vary depending on the individual requirements of each site.
