BRISTOL CITY COMMUNITY TRUST is hosting an Education Open Evening for those considering Further Education next year.
With nearly 60 students now studying at Ashton Gate Stadium, the Education Department is thriving and they are looking to strengthen their courses as they search for the next cohort of dedicated, innovative and inspirational young people.
On Thursday 25th October from 7pm – 9pm in the Premier Suite at Ashton Gate Stadium, The Trust will welcome those young people who think they have the talent and desire to achieve both academically and practically.
The Championship club have forged exciting partnerships with Bridgwater College and the Football League Trust to offer courses which give players and coaches between the ages of 16 and 19 the chance to combine academic studies with a practical football experience.
One course provides students with the opportunity to study a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence pathway), whilst the other enables students to complete an NVQ Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Coaching, Teaching and Instructing Football.
The courses, which are for boys and girls who are currently in year 11, also involve representing Bristol City FC in competitive fixtures against other clubs and colleges and gaining valuable work experience with the Community Trust.
Students will need five GCSEs, or equivalent, at C grade or above for the BTEC course or four GCSEs, or equivalent, at C-E grade for the NVQ course. Both courses will start in September 2013.
Education Lead Ian Parkes said: “These courses are a fantastic way to study. They incorporate qualifications which enable students to go to university, gain employment within Sport and Leisure or potentially work for the Community Trust; but they also enable students to gain first-hand experience of how a football club runs and play competitive fixtures against other clubs and colleges.”
For further information on either course please book a place at the Open Evening by emailing ian.parkes@bcfc.co.uk or calling 0117 9630636.
